Like the Cook family, the Herne family has lived near the St. Lawrence River for many generations. They are members of the St. Regis Mohawks and many still reside on the Akwasasne Reservation.

In 1881 when Julius Samuel Sana'Kwise was 27, he married Mary Adelaide Kanaratio'Sta Gareau, daughter of Angus Anasta'Ko Gareau & Margaret Saint Dennis, in St Regis, Quebec, Canada. Born on 20 Aug 1862 in Hogansburg NY. Mary Adelaide Kanaratio'Sta died in Hogansburg NY, on 14 Oct 1944; she was 82.

[2] Born in 1882 in Hogansburg, Franklin Co, NY. Louis Teiaweka'Te died in Bombay, Franklin Co NY, on 9 Oct 1950; he was 68.
