Smith Died at the Residence, No. 331 Wellington Avenue, on Saturday August 13, 1927, Joseph Smith aged 70 years. He is survived by his wife Ida A Smith; one son, Louis R. Smith; two daughters Grace F. Allen, of this city and Ida M Tyler of Buffalo, NY; one sister, Margaret Bradley of Gettysburg PA: four grandsons, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren. Funeral from the home No 331 Wellington ave on Tuesday Morning. August 16, 1927, at 8:30 o'clock and 9 o'clock from St. Monica's Church, Genesee Street, Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
"Joseph Smith, President of the Smith
Sash and Door Company, died early yesterday morning at his home
at No 331 Wellington Avenue, aged 71 years. Mr. Smith was born
in Rochester and always lived here. He has been connected with
the Smith Sash and Door Company since its organization in 1876
and became its president ten years ago.
Mr. Smith was a member of St. Monica's Church, member of the Fraternal
Order of Eagles, and the Rochester Bruder Trye. Funeral Services
will take place Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the home and
at 9 o'clock at St. Monica Church. Requiem Mass will be celebrated
by Rev John P Brophy.
Mr & Mrs Smith in 1924 celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
He leaves his wife; a son, Louis R. Smith; two daughters, Mrs
Grace Allen, of this City, and Mrs. Van E Tyler, of Buffalo; a
sister, Mrs Margaret Bradley of Gettysburg Pa; four grandchildren
and two great grandchildren."
