Overview

The American chapter of the Tietenberg story starts with (Johann) Frederick and Caroline Tietenberg. Frederick immigrated to America in the 1840's and lived out his life in Rochester NY. He and his wife now sleep in the historic Mt. Hope Cemetery - their gravestone is only a few feet from that of the Susan B. Anthony. Although they do not have the fame of their "neighbor", they and the Tietenberg descendants have added their stories to the rich heritage of America.

Much of this information comes from the work of Rick Schneider (srqrick@yahoo.com) who descends through Emma Tietenberg Mildehn.

Please note that we use the Tietenberg spelling - the name appears in many forms!
