The Life of Grandma Cook
Grandma and Grandpa divorced in 1967. This was very hard on Grandma, and now, at age fifty, she went to full time work for the first time outside her home. But she still found time for her family. Here is Grandma and Suzi on our porch at Hemlock in 1966.

Until she retired at age 65, Grandma worked at several jobs. She worked in a department store in Henrietta, kept house for a priest in Hilton, and worked in the laundry at Hilton East Nursing Home in Hilton NY. This photograph was taken at her retirement party at Hilton East.

Grandma wasn't one to take retirement sitting down. She had raised her children, and now her life was full of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her she is surrounded by her grandchildren about about 1983. Soon after she left to Pittsburgh to help her Grand-daughter Michelle with a new baby.
Grandma eventually returned to Rochester. She moved into the Lake Tower Apartments on Lake Avenue where she was active in the Tower Power Program and the Tenant's Association. She was very proud of the award you see here.
